Are you excited for the Cebu City Marathon 2013 tomorrow?
Of course, this amazing run brings in runners from all over the country and outside the country! Roads will be closed off for runners only, and this is the only Cebu City run that does that. So yes, I’m pretty much excited to run 21K tomorrow.
But enough of the excitement! CCM’s not as amazing as it sounds. Here are three things that I am disappointed with CCM before it has even begun.
- Registration fees have increased by as much as 50%. Late registration fees for 5K have increased from P600 to P800 (33%). 21K has increased from P900 to P1,200 (33%). And finally, 42K has increased from P1,200 to P1,800 (50%). I have no words to describe this overpricing, but if you want to hear it, GREEDY BASTARDS!
- CCM continues to deny 21K runners finisher’s medals. What’s the big deal really? Is it so hard (and so expensive) to award those puso medals to 21K runners? If other cheaper and well-organized races can do it, why can’t CCM? Again, GREEDY BASTARDS!
- Shirt sizes have downsized. I would have shut up with the first two issues, but CCM plays a dirty game. You would think last year’s New Balance sizing would be the same, but it’s not. They shaved off nearly 3 inches from the Large shirt. GREEDY BASTARDS!
Shame on you, CCM! But as I run tomorrow, I will run with a smile, and forget what GREEDY BASTARDS you are! But next year, we’ll see.

Geoff,
Congratulations on doing a marathon, that takes lot’s of hard training and discipline. I was just getting into training in 1981 when I was afflicted with MS. Now I am 71 and love to read of how runners train. I saw where you use a Nexus 7, I just got one a month ago and love it. I was stationed at Clark AFB in 65-66. Train hard.

Thanks for the kind words, Worden! But, I still yet have to run my first 42K. I only ran 21K during the last Cebu City Marathon 2013. By the way, may I ask what is MS?
Hey, I’ve got a Nexus 7, too! Great gadget, isn’t it?
MS is Multiple Sclerosis, a crippling disease of the central nervous system. There are lots of treatments but no cure.
Aw, that sucks! I hope you are still able to exercise somehow.
